First Aid Health And Safety Awareness/Administration Program (FAHASAP): A Health and Safety project.

FIRST AID BOX
The power of life and death in it dwells
Abundance of health drawn from its wells
Take hold of its essence human life to preserve
To own a first aid box is what you deserve

The basis of strife is sustainable life
The necessity of Caution necessitates “Pro-action”
The danger of carelessness is eternal worthlessness.
Therefore make the first aid box your personal aide.

This short poem underscores the need for us to value life and to be proactive is doing so. Sad enough in our country Nigeria little or no emphasis is placed on human life. Loads of people die everyday from simple ailments turned emergency that could have been prevented by first aid. From ordinary headache to heart attack our population deplete day by day.

Are we going to fold our hand and watch?
Why don’t we strike a match?
And rekindle the fire of hope
That we can reciprocate the people’s vote (of confidence).

COMMUNITY FIRST AIDERS PROGRAM
The ambition of this initiative is to bring first aid services and health care to the grassroots (masses). The community “First Aiders” will be recruited from the various communities. They shall be persons living and working in the communities so that they are always available and with reach. They would either be volunteers FA or paid full time FA. The latter is recommended because they are bound by duty to do the job.
These CFAs will be well trained in the advanced act of first aid administration. They will then be equipped with the necessary first aid equipment as well as gadgets for communication and motorcycles or bicycles for movement around the communities.
Metal or wooden kiosks will be built and strategically placed in the communities to house the CFAs and their kits. Reports of emergencies or other health cases that require first aid will be lodged at the kiosks. AMBULANCES will be provided per Local Government to convey special cases to hospitals or other designated health centres.
The FAs will be given uniforms and ID cards for easy identification. They must always wear their ID cards and vestments before they will be allowed to administer first aid.
Special phone lines either GSM OR LANDLINES or both will be given to all the members of the community. It is the numbers the people will call to reach the CFAs at any time of the day or night.
The number of CFAs per community will be decided jointly with the Local Authorities, the CDAs and the sponsoring agencies. The decision will however depend on the population and landmass of each community.

FIRST AID ONLINE/ HOTLINE/CALL CENTRE:
Dedicated phone lines and website with email facility will be provided to at the FAHASAAP office. First aid experts shall be trained to man these lines and the website to answer enquiries from members of the public as well as other First Aid operatives. The call centre shall have access to all the CFA so that when a call for help is received it can be channelled accordingly to the nearest CFA around the location of distress.
