Rhapsodies of Nigeria International Programme (RONIP): A Literary/Creativity Project

Overview
In an era where negativities about the Nigerian state abound, it is of great importance to project the Nigerian image in a positive light in the eyes of the world. It is even much more interesting when this is done while tapping into the literary potentials of the Nigerian youth. It is presently easier to write a negative poem or prose about Nigeria but this project attempts the reverse.

This projects is aimed at making Nigerian youths both home and abroad tap into their creative potentials by submitting a not more than 30 line poem on any topic, any style about the positive attributes of Nigeria. Submission of entries will first be on a state level through email, postal and mobile phone SMS avenues after the completion of a form which is to identify the entrant as a native Nigerian. A committee of seasoned poets and literary experts will judge the entries first on a state level and the best three entries of each of the thirty six states will automatically form the collection of poems for the anthology to be titled ‘Rhapsodies of Nigeria’ which will be available for purchase around the globe on a collaborative network from an international publishing company.

Then the second phase will involve an oral interview and a performance session to choose the best three entrants in the country. There will be a concurrent competition for a national short prose competition but this time, the best three prose entries will be developed into movie scripts for production.
Very Attractive prizes in cash and kind will be given to both the state winners and overall national winners. However, for all the state finalist, the joy of seeing their poems published in an anthology with their names and a special dedication page to anyone of their choice, and made available internationally, is a driving force.
