Rehabilitation and Empowerment ("PLUM THE RUM"): A Community Development Project.

Overview
This is an associated program of the FOUNDATION designed for youth living in slums (ghettos). These youth are mostly uneducated and unemployed. They engage in all forms of negative vices ranging from drug abuse, prostitution, armed robbery etc. thereby constituting themselves into social menace. A chat with a few of these ghetto youth reveal that there are a lot of raw talent in these ghettos and their current life styles is largely as a result of the neglect and extreme despondency. This project seeks to reach out to these youth, empower them by first reorienting them, then identifying the “ROUGH GEMS” for polishing and empowering economically.

PLUM THE RUM

Feeling depressed, he runs and stumbles beside a gutter
His dwelling place, his comfort zone with no water
Miserable and withdrawn from reality, well battered
Left to fall through life to the ground totally shattered

In the domain where human ego is squashed and lost
The vicinity where chaos prevails and drugs a must
Exposed they are to moral degradation and social vices
Pinned perpetually to a point encompassed by crises

How can these ones survive the terror of the swerving tide?
How can these ones live life to the full when they have no pride?
How can these ones get the chance to express their skilfulness?
How can these ones be lifted from this state of helplessness?

We stand able to cause an effectual change in the right direction
To locate these rough gems and to polish them to total radiation
To emancipate and to empower through standard rehabilitation
To plum the rum, a project of the Xn FOUNDATION
